Before you go

Do I need a visa?

UK, EU, US, Canadian or Australian passport: no. Passport from India, Nigeria, Pakistan, China, Ghana or most of Africa and Asia: yes, a Schengen visa, even though you live in the UK. Apply the week you book.

How do I get my visa letter?

It's in your account under Visa letter as soon as your deposit is paid. It has your name, dates, hostels, transport and a reference the consulate can check. No need to email us.

Is my passport OK for Europe?

Two checks. Issued less than 10 years before you fly out, and valid for 3 months after you come home. Fail either and you need a new one before you book: £102, or £192 for the one-week service.

I've got an eVisa, not a BRP. Anything to do?

Before you go, log in to your UKVI account and check it shows your current passport and that your status is still valid when you come back. Get a share code. That's it.

Do I need ETIAS?

Not yet. ETIAS is expected late 2026 and we'll tell everyone with a booking when it starts. What is live is EES: first time into Europe you give fingerprints and a photo at the border. Free, a few minutes, allow extra time.

Do I need a GHIC?

Yes, and it's free. It gets you state hospital treatment in Europe at local prices. It isn't insurance and won't fly you home. Apply on nhs.uk only; it takes about two weeks to arrive.

Do I need travel insurance?

We strongly recommend it and on some trips we ask to see it. It isn't included in your ticket. Add ours from your account, priced by trip length, or use your own policy. A GHIC doesn't count.

Any jabs or health stuff?

No special jabs for the European cities we go to. Bring your medication in its original box, in your hand luggage. Tell us before you book about anything that could affect you on the trip.

What if the Foreign Office advice changes?

If the FCDO advises against travel to where we're going, we change the trip or cancel it and refund you. Anything short of that, we pass on to the group and plan around. Read the FCDO page for your destination before you go.

Bags and flights

What bag can I take?

One small bag that fits under the seat (about 40 x 30 x 20 cm). That's it, unless your trip page says otherwise. Coach trips and the Euro Trip: a normal suitcase, no limits.

Can I add a bigger bag?

Yes. A 10kg overhead-locker bag is £65 return. Add it in your account, under your trip, before the deadline shown there. After the deadline the airline won't let us add it.

When do I get my boarding pass?

The day before you fly. It appears in your account and we email it. You don't check in yourself; we do it for the group.

Your booking

When do I pay the rest?

By the date in your account. You can pay in parts any time before then. Miss it and we can cancel the booking, so if you're going to be late, email us before the date.

My payment didn't go through

Usually your bank wants you to approve it in your banking app, or you've hit the card's daily limit. Try again with the app open, or a different card. Charged but still showing unpaid? Don't pay twice; email us the order number.

I can't see my booking

Nine times out of ten it was booked under a different email (a parent's, or a typo). Search your inboxes for the order email and log in with that address. Still missing? Email us the order number and we'll move it.

Can I cancel?

You can, but the deposit is never refunded and inside 70 days you lose more. It's almost always better to give your place to someone else. Can't go for a reason insurance covers? Claim the charges back from the insurer.

Can someone take my place?

Yes, from your account, up to 7 days before departure. Transfer my place sends your friend a link; they pay the £120 airline name-change fee (free on coach and day trips) and the booking moves to them. Money between the two of you is between the two of you.

Is my money protected?

Yes. Flight trips are ATOL protected. Coach and UK trips are covered by our insolvency insurance. We're ABTA members too (Y6715).

Something's gone wrong on the trip

Tell the trip leader right now. Rooms, missed inclusions and lost bookings can only be fixed while you're there. Afterwards, email us with the order number and what happened.

Running a trip

How do I run a trip for my society or club?

Pick the dates, then the city. Get a quote, put the booking link out with a deposit deadline two weeks away, and don't handle the money yourself. We do flights, hostels, payments, paperwork and a trip leader.
