Small in size but big in personality, Malta is a stunning Mediterranean island packed with history, sunshine, and culture. Just south of Italy, this island nation is made up of Malta, Gozo, and Comino — three gems surrounded by clear blue waters and endless coastlines.

From ancient temples older than the pyramids to lively seaside towns and vibrant nightlife, Malta blends the best of old and new. Valletta, the capital, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with beautiful Baroque buildings, cozy cafés, and views that make every walk feel like a postcard moment. Whether you’re diving into crystal-clear bays, exploring medieval streets, or soaking up the island vibe at a beach bar, Malta offers the perfect balance of relaxation and adventure.

Itinerary

Please note, this is a sample itinerary. No activities are included unless specified in the ‘What’s Included’ section.

  • You’ll meet with your UniLife Trip Leaders at your chosen pick-up destination and head to the airport to catch your flight!
  • Once landed, proceed through passport control and hop on your airport transfers to the accommodation.
  • Our Trip Leaders will get you checked in and settled so you can make the most of your first evening in Malta. We have plenty of recommendations from our many trips here, which we’ll share on the group chat so you can start getting to know the city!

A day of free time to explore the city how you like! Here are some recommendations:

  • We recommend starting off by exploring the ancient cobbled streets of Malta’s capital and UNESCO Heritage Sight, Valetta. Soak in the views form the Upper Barrakka Gardens, overlooking the Grand Harbour followed by lunch in a seaside cafe.
  • Head to the southern coast of the island to explore the Ħaġar Qim & Mnajdra Temples. Take the time to enjoy the sea views for the nearby cliffs and learn about their 5,000-year-old history

In the evening meet your Trip Leaders for an Bar Crawl visiting Malta’s hotspots!

Here are some things we recommend to do with your free time:

  • Perhaps head on the early ferry to Comino for a morning swim in the famous Blue Lagoon. Pack lots of water and snacks so you can spend as long as possible here!
  • Alternatively, head inland to Mdina, known as the Silent City. Stroll through its golden stone alleys and stop at the Fontanella Tea Gardens to enjoy a drink and the amazing panoramic views.
  • We’ll check out of the hostel and put your bags in luggage storage.
  • You’ll have a final chance to explore and see any sights you might have missed!
  • After meeting back at the hostel, you’ll board your transfers back the the airport and board your flight back the UK.
  • Once back, we’ll proceed through to the arrivals area, making the end of the trip. Until next time!
