As the capital city of Austria, Vienna is a cultural hub renowned for its stunning architecture and rich history. Architectural styles span from medieval to baroque periods and the history city centre is a an official UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Previously home to composers like Mozart, Beethoven, adn Strauss, the classical music scene in Vienna is one of the best in the world. Take time to check out the Vienna State Opera and the various music festivals that they host throughout the year!

The Christmas markets have international fame and the celebrations highlight the city’s festive spirit with lights and music.

Itinerary

Please note, this is a sample itinerary. No activities are included unless specified in the ‘What’s Included’ section.

  • You’ll meet with your UniLife Trip Leaders at your chosen pick-up destination and head to the airport to catch your flight!
  • Once landed in Austria, proceed through passport control and hop on your airport transfers to the accommodation.
  • Our Trip Leaders will get you checked in and settled so you can make the most of your first evening in Vienna. We have plenty of recommendations from our many trips here, which we’ll share on the group chat so you can start getting to know the city!

A day of free time to explore the city how you like!

  • Take time to explore one of the many world-class museums and galleries that this city has to offer. You can head to Upper Belvedere Palace to view the famous final painting by Klimt, ‘The Kiss’.
  • Stroll around the Ringstrasse and appreciate the historical influences that surround you.
  • Explore Austrian cuisine by enjoying a Wiener Schnitzel for dinner.
  • Let our Trip Leaders lead you through an exciting bar crawl through Vienna’s nightlife hotspots!

A day of free time to explore the city how you like!

  • Check out the Sigmund Freud Museum to learn a bit more about the founder of psychoanalysis and see his family home before he had to flee to England to escape the Nazi’s persecution of the Jews.
  • Take time to try Vienna’s signature cake! The Sachertorte is a delicious chocolate and apricot treat that must be tried at least once.
  • Head to Hofburg Palace, the official residence of the country’s President and home to many of Vienna’s top museums and galleries.
  • We’ll check out of the hostel and put your bags in luggage storage.
  • You’ll have a final chance to explore and see any sights you might have missed!
  • After meeting back at the hostel, you’ll hop on your transfers back to the airport and board your flight back the UK.
  • Once back, we’ll proceed through to the arrivals area, making the end of the trip. Until next time!
