Visit this modern capital for a fun and engaging weekend away. A favourite of law societies due to the presence of the European Parliament, experience a quintessentially ‘European’ city and all it has to offer. With historic sites and regal 19th century mansions, to modern art galleries and youthful bars and attractions, the city is multicultural to its roots.

When the sun is shining, this lesser known destination offers one of the best days out in Europe. The marvel of the Grand Place is worth a picture or ten, and the Atomium is one of the most iconic designs of the World Expo series. Check out Belgium’s own Buckingham at the Royal Palace of Brussels or, if you want to see all of Europe in one, the Mini-Europe park showcases the best landmarks in a manageable size. To top it all off, the traditional foods of Waffles and Frites are both delicious and cultural, so you can stuff yourself full in the name of immersing yourself in the Belgian lifestyle. This gem of a city flies under the radar but is not to be missed!

Itinerary

The fun begins! Grab your bag, make sure you’ve got your passport and head to your departure point.
If travelling by coach, we’ll pick you up and make sure you’re fully set and ready to go. To make the journey fly-by we recommend bringing along some of your favourite DVDs, your comfiest pillow and maybe a blanket too.
Stops will be made along the way so you definitely wont go hungry, and we’ll arrive in Brussels in no time!
We’ll get everyone checked in so you have a whole evening to explore the city and can make the most of your stay.

Start your journey in Brussels with a visit to the Atomium You can take a walk to the top, or check out Mini Europe nearby for a great start to the trip.
A walk to Brussels Cathedral is a must, as well as the Place Royale; some of the major attractions of Brussels.
You should then take a trip to the heart of the European quarter, where you can discover the European commission and parliament buildings.

Your day would start with a professional guided tour of the city. Our private tour guides will give you a flavour of the spirit of Belgium, enlightening you on some of the interesting history and famous culture that Belgium has to offer!
You’ll then have free time to explore the awe-inspiring city. Indulge in traditional Belgian waffles, check out the most famous Menneken Pis or take part in a chocolate tasting tour.
In the evening, have a walk to the market square, where the grand place showcases a fantastic light show for all to see. We’ll then be taking a trip to Delirum Cafe, a famous Belgium Bar which is home to over two thousand types of beer.

It’s unfortunately home time. Our Trip leaders will make sure everyone gets home safe and sound. You’ll be leaving with some new found friends and unforgettable memories.

Frequently Asked Questions

The standard ticket will include a small, under seat bag with maximum dimensions of 40 x 30 x 20 cm. You can purchase an additional cabin bag with maximum dimensions of 55 x 40 x 23 cm as an add on to your ticket.

Please note, you will only be able to purchase a cabin bag until the deposit deadline date. After this date, you will only be able to purchase additional baggage at the airport.

We reserve the right to issue you a refund for the cost of the cabin bag in the instance the airline has sold out of cabin bag spaces.

The Currency used at your destination is Euros.

Having some cash is always useful on your trip, but not essential (unless there is city tax required – see & ‘Other Costs in FAQs’). The majority of establishments will accept card payments. Digital Bank cards such as Monzo, Revolut or Starling are particularly useful as they have low charges.

Travel insurance is not included as standard in our ticket costs unless specified in the trip inclusions of your trip page. We highly recommend that you purchase travel insurance for your trip to avoid additional costs in the instance of an accident.

The City Tax in Brussel is up to €3 per night.

City tax is not included in your trip ticket, and is payable in cash once you arrive. In most cases, this will be collected by your Trip Leaders. We ask that you do your best to pay in the exact amount, as there is only a limited amount of change available.

If you have purchased add-ons, You will be provided with the necessary information and your ticket prior to arrival at your destination. If for any reason the activity gets cancelled, or is unable to run, you will receive a full refund of the add-on within 14 days of being notified.

If you are an international student, you may require a visa to travel with us. This is the participants’ responsibility and UniLife will not be held responsible or liable in any way in the instance that participants cannot travel because they do not have the relevant visa required.

We require full passport details at least 4 weeks before the date of departure. You can add your passport details by logging in and following this link . https://unilifeuk.com/passport-details/

We require all passports to have a minimum of 6 months validity from the date of travel. Please check your passport validity before you purchase a ticket. If you do require a new passport, this generally takes 6-8 weeks. However, fast track services are available. Please ensure that you apply for a new passport in a timely manner to prevent any delays or disruption to your travel.

Your rooming preferences are recorded via the passport information section of your account. Please ensure you fill this out as soon as possible. We try our best to accommodate all requests, however are unable to in some cases.

We will always prioritise single-gender rooming requests over other preferences, and will release these to the group shortly prior to departure.

Unfortunately, we can’t provide refunds of the trip deposit. However, If you can no longer attend the trip, it may be possible to sell your ticket to another participant, subject to the Airline or Ferry name change fees. Generally, this is £50 each way (£100 total for a return flight).

You can do this by contacting support@unilifeuk.com with your name, the trip you are travelling on, and full name, e-mail and phone number of the person taking your ticket. If you are struggling to find someone, we would suggest asking your committee first.
