Southampton SU goes to London!

Duration: 1 days

Please note this is a shared coach trip. The coach will collect students in Bournemouth before arriving at your pickup point, and will stop in Portsmouth on the way to London.

A day trip to London is a brilliant way to pack in a bit of everything the city has to offer. You could start with some of the big landmarks, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, or the Tower of London, then head into central areas like Westminster or the City, where centuries of history sit right alongside the buzz of modern London life.

Itinerary

  • We kick things off with a smooth coach pick-up from the allocated meeting point in Southampton SU. No alarms snoozed five times, no train changes, no stress. Just show up, hop on, and let our Trip Leaders do the organising. Cue playlists as we head towards the buzzing city of London.
  • After arriving in London, you could start with a look round Westminster Abbey, pop into the Tower of London, or just wander through the streets and shops of Covent Garden. A walk along the South Bank or over Tower Bridge is worth it too if you want to take in some of London’s best-known sights.
  • There’s plenty of choice for food too! Whether that’s a quick lunch, a café stop, or something a bit more substantial before the afternoon.
  • In the afternoon enjoy further free time to visit anywhere you’ve missed so far, pick up something to take home, or just find a spot to relax.
  • We’ll meet back at the coach pick up point and head home. A full day, a lot covered, and no need to worry about the journey back.
  • Start at Buckingham Palace. If you’re lucky, you can catch the Changing of the Guard before moving on.

  • Head to Parliament Square. This historic area is surrounded by iconic buildings and offers great photo opportunities.

  • See Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. These are two of London’s most recognisable sights, especially impressive up close.

  • Walk along the Thames. A riverside stroll gives you some of the best views of the city and connects many major landmarks.

  • Explore London’s financial district. Wander through the City of London to see a mix of historic streets, famous landmarks, and modern architecture.

  • Visit Trafalgar Square. Home to Nelson’s Column and a lively open space in the heart of the city.

  • Walk through Hyde Park. A peaceful break from the busy streets and a great place to relax.

Lovely and Memorable Trip

I recently joined a trip with UniLife UK, and it was an amazing experience. Our Trip Leaders, Ema and Gimhan, were incredibly creative in organising optional schedules outside of the main walking tour. These optional activities were really helpful, especially for those of us who weren’t sure where to go or needed ideas for places to visit.

It was all we needed, and more!

I really enjoyed how the group leaders Amelie and Maia way of making us feel like we were on the right track; and made us feel safe by their friendly and reliable energy. They knew the best spots, and were very willing to add fun to something that can easily be a stressful activity. 10/10 travelling experience!

Pick up and organisation was great! The hostel was amazing! We also had a city tour which I really enjoyed. Our Trip Leaders were very friendly and welcoming.
