Itinerary

Day1

Trip Overview

Guided tour
  • We kick things off with a smooth coach pick-up from the allocated meeting point in Birmingham City SU. No alarms snoozed five times, no train changes, no stress. Just show up, hop on, and let our Trip Leaders do the organising. Cue playlists as we head towards the buzzing city of Manchester.
  • After arriving in Manchester, you might start with a look round the Northern Quarter, take in the Manchester Cathedral, or just wander through the city’s streets and shops. A walk along Deansgate or over to Castlefield is worth it too if you want to see some of Manchester’s best-known spots.
  • There’s plenty of choice for food too! Whether that’s a quick lunch, a café stop, or something a bit more substantial before the afternoon.
  • In the afternoon we’ll regroup for a guided walking tour of the city. It’s a great way to get a bit more context behind what you’ve seen (and probably discover a few places you’d have otherwise missed). Expect a mix of history, architecture, and some lesser-known stories that bring the city to life.
  • After the tour, you’ll have a bit more free time to revisit anywhere you liked, pick up something to take home, or just find a spot to relax.
  • We’ll meet back at the coach pick up point and head home. A full day, a lot covered, and no need to worry about the journey back.
Day2

Our Must-Sees

Home
  • Explore the Northern Quarter, Manchester’s creative hub and one of the city’s most fascinating areas. Wander the streets to discover independent shops, street art, and a real sense of local character.
  • Visit Manchester Cathedral, a striking piece of medieval architecture right in the heart of the city. Take time to admire the interior and learn about its history.
  • Wander through Castlefield, with its canals, Roman ruins, and industrial heritage. It’s a lovely spot for a relaxed walk and a bit of history.
  • Explore Deansgate, home to grand Victorian architecture, shops, and a real sense of Manchester’s city life. Look out for John Rylands Library tucked along the way too.
  • Stroll through the Gay Village, where the canalside setting and lively atmosphere make for one of Manchester’s most distinctive areas.

What Students Thought of This Trip 3 reviews

★★★★★

"I recently joined a trip with UniLife UK, and it was an amazing experience. Our Trip Leaders, Ema and Gimhan, were incredibly creative in organising optional schedules outside of the main walking tour. These optional activities were really helpful, especially for those of us who weren’t sure where to go or needed ideas for places to visit."

Lovely and Memorable Trip
★★★★★

"I really enjoyed how the group leaders Amelie and Maia way of making us feel like we were on the right track; and made us feel safe by their friendly and reliable energy. They knew the best spots, and were very willing to add fun to something that can easily be a stressful activity. 10/10 travelling experience!"
